There are great places to view stars and constellations in Japan, including:
Shooting stars are visible throughout Japan, although the best time to view meteor showers varies each year. The Perseids happen every year from July 17 to August 24, with the peak being August 12 and 13 in 2021. The Geminids appear in December, while the Quadrantids generally appear in January.
During the summer, you can see Cassiopeia, Cepheus, Draco, Ursa Major and Ursa Minor in Japan. Aquila, Cygnus, Draco, and Lyra are also visible plus Hercules, Sagittarius and Scorpius. During the winter, prominent constellations include Auriga, Canis Major, Canis Minor, Carina, Eridanus, and Monoceros. Orion, Taurus and Gemini are also visible.
