Do you dream of relaxing on the beaches in Bali, bathing in the Pacific Northwest Temperate Rainforest, or how about in a field of blooms in the Netherlands? Wherever you dream, picture yourself there. What do you see? What do you hear? What do you smell? Create a space that will engage all your senses.
Wrap a couple stems of Eucalyptus, Lavender, Rosemary or Lemongrass with twine and hang from your shower head. The steam from the shower will rise up towards the herbs and florals, filling the bathroom with a relaxing and refreshing scent.
Determining your color palette sets the stage for your magical oasis. Use nature as your muse; seek inspiration from the colors and textures you see outdoors. If the beach is your inspiration, opt for calming colors like muted greens, watery blues, sandy neutrals, crisp whites, and grey undertones. Or maybe you want to create a moody environment using darker colors and bold prints, with an added touch of warmth from wood accents.
Scared to go bold? For a non-permanent print for walls or floors, try adding stick-on tiles or a bathroom friendly wallpaper!
Nothing sets the mood better than warm, relaxing temperament lighting. Install a dimmer switch on your overhead fixture, or add in a lamp or pendant light with a warm bulb. Light some candles for a magical warm glow!
Bring the outside in. Incorporate plant-life for an instant tranquil and outdoorsy vibe. Aloe Vera, Snake Plants, ferns, Pothos, and Ivy all love the humidity of the bathroom. If your bathroom has very little natural light try adding in faux plants – Monstera leaves and palms fronds are always a favorite of mine!
The most rewarding yet the easiest fix. Showering under a massaging ‘rainfall’ shower head will take your showers to the next level.
